Open Transparent Government

Open and transparent government is important to ensuring a functioning democracy and to protecting the taxpayer. Sunlight disinfects, and government is a better steward of taxpayer dollars when the eyes of the country can see how funds are being spent.

Harry supports an open appropriations process, in which the public is free to see who in governments is requesting funds for what projects. In addition, Harry supported unprecedented accountability measures included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, including the creation of a website that will lay out all economic stimulus spending for the world to see, Recovery.gov.
